For the mirror universe counterpart, see Soval (mirror).

Soval was the Vulcan ambassador to Earth from the 2120s through (at least) the 2150s. Though initially one of the most vocal opponents of the NX program and the mission of the Enterprise, he eventually became an ally of Captain Jonathan Archer after his life was saved by Admiral Maxwell Forrest during the bombing of the United Earth embassy on Vulcan. Soval supported the efforts of the Enterprise crew during the incident which sparked the Vulcan Reformation, and was involved in the conference that birthed the Coalition of Planets. (ENT: "Broken Bow", "The Forge", "Kir'shara", "Awakening", "Demons", "Terra Prime", et. al.)

In 2161, Ambassador Soval was one of the signatories of the Articles of Federation in San Francisco, cementing his place in history as one of the most important diplomats in Federation history. (ENT novel: Last Full Measure)

Ambassador Soval became a mentor to future Ambassador Sarek in the early 23rd century, and in the 24th century, the USS Soval, an Ambassador-class starship, was named after him. (Dark Territory, Star Trek: Pendragon)
