STARBASE | |
Name: | Starbase 001 |
Affiliation: | Federation Starfleet |
Starbase 001 was a Federation starbase in orbit of Earth in the mid 28th century during a time when the Federation was a shadow of its former self. It was populated by over 4000 people, commanded by Captain David Major, and held the office of Fleet Admiral Tom Garrison. Starships such as the USS Pollux were attached to it. (Star Trek: 001, ST001NB, Scorpion's Descent, Star Trek: Phoenix-X: "Second Life")
- It is likely this starbase was the same as or a later incarnation of Earth Spacedock.
History[]
Sometime before 2752, the senior staff of Starbase 001 was dismissed. In 2752, a new staff was assigned, including David Major, Samantha Halliwell, Tanik, K'Rak, Rune Sith, T'Kila, Othoniel Ephraim Rasin and Michael Larkin.
After rescuing the few surviving crew of the USS Domtar from a Romulan attack in Old Neutral Zone, Chief Security Lieutenant Commander K'Rak and Deputy Lieutenant Rune Sith surveyed every person on Starbase 001 in suspect that there may be Alliance spies. ("New Beginnings")
When the station started having files mysteriously deleted, unknowingly by Doctor Gao Gent-al, including that of a distress call by Michael Larkin, K'Rak and Sith began tracking down the mysterious culprit, who turned out to be Gao Gent-al. ("The Last Place You Look")
Not long after, there was a burst of dolamide and Starbase 001 suddenly found itself in subspace domain that was inhabited by subspace aliens. An Alliance battlecruiser was also there, but was disabled by the USS Pollux and the USS Gambit when it attacked. Ensign Othoniel Ephraim Rasin communed with the aliens through his experimental neural communications device and became a vessel for them to reconfigure the station in a way to expel it from their domain. ("Alone")
A few weeks later, Major, Halliwell, K'Rak, T'Kila, Sith and Ensign Jackson were put into a week-planned simulation of World War III in the station's new holoarena to test their ability to keep the timeline safe. While in there, a sabotage led them to be stuck inside and Will Karelia joined the station as Chief of Operations. ("When It Rains...")
Starbase 001 was one of the last stronghold starbases in the Federation. During this year, the Federation went to war with the Alliance, forcing 001 to be the base of operations against the enemy. ("Red Sand, Dark Tide")

Background information[]
- Another incarnation of Starbase 001 was conceived for a 24th century setting and RP titled Star Trek: Starbase 001. Since the RP fizzled out quickly, the story never got to the point of reaching said-starbase.
