USS Enterprise Command Pin This article is a stub. Please help STEU by expanding it.

Starbase 29 was a United Federation of Planets facility, with both orbital and planetbound components, active in at least the 22nd through 24th centuries.

It was located near Gorn space. (Orion Press: "Free Market Incident")

22nd century

A false reading aboard the Moskva-class cruiser USS Johannesburg resulted in the chief engineer's ordering of a separation of the warp nacelles and core from the rest of the ship in 2186. The sections were re-mated at Starbase 29. (The Starfleet Museum: Moskva-Class Cruisers)

23rd century

At some point in the late 2220s or early 30s, there was a collision between the starships Lilienthal and Whittle at the starbase, resulting in Whittle 's retirement from active Fleet service. (The Starfleet Museum: Siegfried-Class Dreadnoughts)

In 2268, Rear Admiral Cartwright, an administrator at Starbase 29, ordered Captain James T. Kirk to secure a cloaking device from the Romulans. (TOS: "The Enterprise Incident", TOS novel: Cloak)

Starbase 29 was the command base for the Starfleet Seventh Fleet for many years, most notably during the 2290s. During this time, its commanding officer was Commodore Barry Johnson. Johnson's executive officer (at least in 2294) was an Edoan, Fleet Captain Tarex. The seniormost JAG officer assigned to the sector was Fleet Captain Winifred Lawrence. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Belonging")

The strike cruiser Briza was docked at the starbase in November, 2293. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Crash")

A popular area planetside was MegaMall One. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Nobody, Not Even the Rain, Has Such Small Hands")

MegaMall One was an homage to Judge Dredd's MegaCity One.

After the Sha-ka-ree entity attacked the starbase in 2294, the Seventh Fleet was moved 200 parsecs to the "inner" Federation and redeployed out of Starbase 7. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Aftermath")

Per "Aftermath", Starbases 7 and 29 are a day's travel apart, presumably at about warp factor 6 or 7.

24th century

In the late 24th century, the base would be commanded by Admiral Budrow. (TNG: "Frame of Mind")

Auxiliary craft

An aquashuttle, Makora, was assigned to the starbase. It was destroyed by a quantum singularity in the Sudirman Alpha system in 2294. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Belonging" framing sequence)
