Starbase 42 was a Starfleet facility in operation in the 24th century.

Commander Lourdes Courtesan was assigned to the starbase in 2318 as a project manager in charge of overseeing two build-outs of variant Excelsior-class cruisers, among multiple other projects at the busy yard facility. Later that year, she was given a brevet promotion to captain, acknowledging her effectiveness at managing both repair and construction efforts. (Star Trek: Avenger: Avenger News 158 [November 2020])

In May of 2377, the USS Baldwin was towed to Starbase 42 by the USS Wildfire for repairs due to dilithium failure. It was held for refit when it was determined that the entire cabling needed to be replaced.
