Starfleet Intelligence Special Operations Section Eight was a super-black sub-unit of Starfleet Intelligence's Special Operations Branch, specializing in preventing major temporal incursions.
- "Section 8" is US military slang for "crazy", after a now-defunct administrative code for discharge for psychiatric reasons.
In the mid-2450s, following information on Borg temporal incursions received from the Department of Temporal Investigations, Commander Reshek Taryn of Section 8 traveled back to a mission undertaken by her mother, Captain Kanril Eleya, in 2411 to prevent One of One from acquiring the technology to do so.
