Steven Gray, M.D. was a Starfleet medical officer on active duty in the early 24th century.

Dr. Gray, a lieutenant, succeeded Commander Skep Anderson as chief medical officer of the USS Tristan. (Starship Tristan: "A Look in the Mirror", "Repercussions (Part 1)", "Repercussions (Part 2)", "Reclamation (Chapter 1)", "Reclamation (Chapter 2)", "36 Hours")

He had previously been assigned to the USS Al-Rashid. However, after the ship was severely damaged by Corsairean pirates in 2300, the yardmaster at Starbase 211 assessed the ship as "a total loss". Dr. Gray, and another Al-Rashid medical officer, Skartak, then transferred to the Tristan. ("Pride and Prejudice")

Dr. Gray alluded to his paternal grandmother's having Cherokee ancestry. (A Look in the Mirror)

Family[]

Gray was married to Awenasa, who also had Native American heritage. They conceived a child before a wormhole conveyed Awenasa to the early 19th century. ("Reclamation (Chapter 1)", "Reclamation (Chapter 2)").

Life before Starfleet[]

Gray was born and raised in the northern part of Alabama. His father was of mixed European-descent American and Cherokee ancestry, and felt a strong affinity for his Native American roots. Steven himself felt pressure to join other Native Americans in an exodus off-Earth, and joined Starfleet to find his own way in the universe.
