Subadmiral (Rihannsu: khre'riov, lit. "commander general") was an officer rank used by the Romulan Republican Force. It was roughly equivalent to a Starfleet commodore, representing an officer normally in command of a single warbird but holding the authority to command a task force.
A subadmiral outranked a commander, or riov, and was subordinate to a vice admiral, or erei'enriov. (Saith Daepahr hrrafv Llaiirevha glossary)
