The subspace-aperture transporter (also subspace-aperture transport system and, informally, SAT) was a variant of transporter technology in the Federation. It apparently was first implemented in the 2420s.
The technology utilized wormholes in some manner. Dr. Thomas Alden opined: "I don't see how being sucked through a wormhole is any better than having one's atoms scattered through space," just before he was subject to it on a mission. (Star Trek: Phoenix: "Cloak and Dagger")
