Malyik was born in December 2348 in the Dahkur Province of Cardassian occupied Bajor to Thana Raban and Tahna Ramara. Malyik lived on Bajor during the Cardassian occupation in the singha refugee camp before escaping to the Federation with her family when she was two years old, thanks to the aid of a sympathetic freighter captain.
