Hey everyone, I actually disagree with cities not having the country behind them. I've done it with Christchurch (New Zealand), Melbourne (Australia) and other cities, so I think it's only fair that we stick with a standard, and, in this case, if someone wants to create another Chicago for any reason, they can (maybe another planet with a city Chicago?). My 10 cents' worth! -- usscantabrian 20:38, 9 January 2007 (UTC)

Right now just leave it as Chicago. But if there was to be a ship called the USS Chicago for example, this page could become a disambiguation and then (USA) can be added to the end of Chicago. --The NCC Factor Talk 20:44, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Actually, (city) would be added. --Kevin W. AdmTlk 20:47, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Okay, so for any city we shouldn't put the country behind it? Because most cities have another namesake somewhere around the world, i.e. Christchurch is located in New Zealand, Australia, USA, England just to name a few... I was just using the same "distinction" that we use on starships, i.e. adding a registry number behind them. I am just trying to help make this wikia consistent, so was naming all the cities I add with the country behind them, i.e. Chicago (USA), Christchurch (New Zealand), Melbourne (Australia), etc. Thanks. -- usscantabrian 20:49, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
It's just that for cities, especially "famous" ones like Chicago, New York, London, etc, it's not really necessary to "preemptively disambiguate" them. It's unlikely there will be another "Chicago" article. "New Chicago" or "USS Chicago", maybe. If, for some reason, someone did make an article about a city with that name on Sigma Iotia, that would probably be titled "Chicago (Iotia)," and we'd leave the "main" article alone. --TimPendragon 20:53, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
If there is more than one city, then you would put the country indicator. There is only one Chicago as we know so far. There are multiple Christchurches, so you would put the country indicators after each individual one if it's used. Don't put the country indicator if it's not necessary. There's no point in indicating the country for Chicago if there's no other city of Chicago. I honestly doubt any person who hears the words "city of Chicago" will not know what country it's in. It's the third largest city in the US. --Kevin W. AdmTlk 20:54, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
Yeah I know about Chicago being the third largest city in the US... considering I was born and raised there! LOL Okay, will change the way I name articles. BTW, someone on this Wikia (I think) has a USS Chicago but it doesn't appear to be added yet (see Federation starships C). Thanks for the help in sorting this out, guys. -- usscantabrian 20:58, 9 January 2007 (UTC)
