this page is missing the "blank" uniform worn by Crewman Fletcher and many others. -- Captain M.K.B. 06:32, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

I'm actually trying to resolve that issue on MA right now, because all three of the insignia listed here are confirmed on-screen as Crewmen as well, which means that Fletcher's uniform was either a costume error or the Earth Starfleet has four Crewman grades.
or there are three grades, and wearing the rank patch is completely optional. -- Captain M.K.B. 15:30, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
Considering it's a military organization, I'm pretty sure rank insignia wouldn't be optional. --Kevin W. 20:14, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
that's an odd conclusion to come to, since there are some militaries that really do have uniforms where there aren't specific rank insignia for different grades that do exist. i guess that's why you said you are "pretty sure" -- Captain M.K.B. 22:50, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
in fact, the "no insignia for crewman" option is displayed on many of the 24th century rank pages you've worked on lately, based on what has been seen onscreen. -- Captain M.K.B. 22:52, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
That's mainly because no one-slash insignia has been shown for those ranks, whereas all four ranks have been shown in ENT. The ranks in the 24th century styles, as evidenced by the insignia (and the very existence) of the SCPO rank are based upon US Navy ranks, which have three slashes for E3, two for E2 and no insignia for E1. --Kevin W. 23:02, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
it is still possible that the ENT starfleet has one more crewman grade than did the Federation Starfleet (and the US). it is possible for Star Trek ranks to fall differently than the US, you know, no matter how "based on US" the ranks are -- they could still be different. Its also possible the Fed Starfleet has the four grades also, but we do know for a fact that crewmen mentioned to be various classes have been seen without rank insignia, even though you suggest one exists and "pretty sure, wouldn't" be optional. -- Captain M.K.B. 23:28, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
I just realized something: the crewmember in question who wore the one-slash CR insignia was Daniels. For all we know, that was just part of his disguise. It's possible that the insignia was just part of his disguise and that the real CR rank was no insignia, like the other systems and the US Navy. What do you think? --Kevin W. 01:10, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
How is it now? --Kevin W. 23:10, 28 December 2006 (UTC)
