Star Trek Expanded Universe

Why is this listed for deletion? --Sneg 15:54, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

ZMan seems dead set on adding articles full of Memory Alpha links, which is incorrect for this wiki. He refuses to allow them to be changed to yet-to-be-added links for this wiki, so I've marked it for deletion until we can get some of the links resolved. --Kevin W. 15:58, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Okay fine by me - but deletion is a little extreme in my opinion. --Sneg 17:35, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Well, if the article appears on Memory Alpha, there's really no reason for it to be duplicated here. IMHO, of course. --JusticeCEO 21:10, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
Duplicating Memory Alpha articles is sometimes the only way to replicate certain articles. There has to be a certain standard for necessary canon articles, and often, some of the article writers here do not uphold that standard. Thus, MA articles are necessary. --Kevin W. 23:25, 23 August 2006 (UTC)
What I meant was, wouldn't it be better just to have an article redirect to the MA article itself rather than duplicate it here? If we're supposed to be a cooperative with MA, and not comepletely stand alone, why not link back to it when necessary? --JusticeCEO 00:50, 24 August 2006 (UTC)
We should be as independent as possible. When topics are vital, such as the explanations of phasers or the history of the Constitution class, they should be copied from Memory Alpha so as to maintain that level of quality. Links should link to this wiki only. Linking strictly to MA makes us dependent on them, whereas copying the articles and citing MA makes us independent. --Kevin W. 06:54, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
That does make sense. Everyone just needs to be very careful when they copy the articles so that we don't end up with a bunch of broken links. --JusticeCEO 12:34, 26 August 2006 (UTC)
