Origin of the class name in fiction?[]
I haven't read (TNG novel: The Best and the Brightest) in years, but I have a vague memory that the Miranda class was said to have been named after a member of the illustrious Miranda family, four of whose members are in the book: Admiral Marley Miranda, Cadet Jayme Miranda, Dani Miranda and one other.
