Tolian Naros

Captain Tolian Naros (Larry LaVerne) was an El-Aurian who, in his 645 years, had witnessed historical conflicts among many cultures, especially in the Briar Patch.

Naros appeared to have singular insight into the nature of the Patch. Earlier in his life, a time he described as one he wasn't particularly proud of, he was a prominent figure in the Patch, making contact with Tren'La, and opening them up to trade with civilizations outside the Patch. With his partner Siroc he traveled the Patch's subspace currents freely, and Naros would often brag about his knowledge of them. After they separated, Siroc become Naros's bitter nemesis. Appearances

Tolian Naros first appeared at the rank of Commander in USS Angeles: The Price of Duty as captain of the Sovereign-class USS Victory. As captain of the Victory, he led a task force from DS9 responding to the USS Angeles's distress call.

He next appeared in "Heroes" where it is revealed that he retired after the Dominion War and was living on the Norpin IV colony before being reinstated into Starfleet.

He continued as a regular in Hidden Frontier until the series finale, "Its Hour Come Round At Last".

Apocrypha

Larry LaVerne was first credited in "USS Angeles: The Price of Duty" as Cmdr. Grunstad which is still visible in the end credits. In the 2012 release and as of the 2021 release, the opening credits now instead list him as Cmdr. Tolian Naros.
