Torch Barley

Torch Barley was a Starfleet tactical and security chief in the late 24th and early 25th century. He was stationed aboard the Federation Intrepid-class starship USS Crucial. (Star Trek: Phoenix-X)

History

During his training at Starfleet Academy, Barley fell in love with his combat instructor, Clarissa. Those that knew about his relationship, viewed it as a free pass for him. After the Academy, Clarissa was stationed at Deep Space 5, where Grunley would continue to see her. ("Crucial")

Sometime before 2406, Barley and Menrow's crew of the Crucial were caught in a massive molecular reversion field, intermixed with an ion storm, the result of which caused him and everyone involved to undergo a reduction in age. The trauma from the accident caused all included to temporarily lose years of memories. ("Delta Recruit")

Like Captain Reynolds' crew, it is likely he retook Starfleet Academy, aligning with events in Star Trek Online.

Background information

• Several Captains and their crew, from Star Trek: Phoenix-X, share the same experiences from the video game missions of Star Trek Online. It is a soft-break of the fourth wall that they all are semi-conscious of this whilst interacting with each other. The only differing experiences between Captains and crew are depicted through in-story from the Unofficial Literary Challenges.
