The UESS Quail (FR-322) was a Redstone class transport (subclass to the Durance-class) in the United Earth Starfleet during the mid-22nd century. The ships were procured as a cost-cutting measure in acquiring more logistical support for the rapidly maneuvering front-line forces, wherein any cargo that did not fit within the warp field-encased cargo deck did not go. One unanticipated aspect of the "shorter" transports was that the UESF was less willing to spare them for longer endurance missions, which meant the original Durances often undertook the longer deployments. No vessels transferred into Federation Starfleet service and all were retired no later than 2163, often sold to civilian users.
