The USS Adad (NCC-433) was a Syracuse-class destroyer in Starfleet service during the 23rd century. The first block of Syracuses were named after Earth cities that had resisted assaults and sieges. The second block were named after Earth gods and demigods.
By the end of 2242, all remaining Syracuse-configured vessels had been converted to the Siva subclass. The conversions (and associated newbuilds) were intended to enhance the fleet's escort capacity through the adoption of the new and radical dilithium-regulated propulsion systems and the PB-31 nacelle with its FWD-1 (and later FWD-1A) coils. The changes to support the new power generator required a profile alteration from the Syracuse-style saucer. In order to accommodate the operational, tactical, and support equipment the ship needed for its continuing anti-capital/anti-installation role, the saucer had to be modernized.
