USS Alexander (NCC-511) was a Saladin-class destroyer on active duty in Starfleet during at least the 23rd century. (Star Fleet Technical Manual)

Alexander was assigned to the 23 Light Armored Combat Group (M) in 2243 as the Hapspear Conflict began to grow. Assigned as unit 109, she served with distinction throughout the war and even participated in the Battle of Donatu V with the remaining members of "Wolf Pack" 23 which included the destroyer Tamerlane. (Tamerlane: "The Champion")

Moves-With-Burning-Grace was an engineer on Alexander early in his career, before billets on USS Lee and USS Enterprise. (Star Trek: The Early Voyages comic: "Flesh of My Flesh")

In 2259, James T. Kirk was executive officer of the Alexander. (TOS novel: Crossroad)

Alexander and a sister ship, USS Darius, were destroyed by an energy being from another universe during a research mission in the binary system of Procyon and Phardos. (Orion Press: "The Balance of Nature")
