USS Amiens (NCC-1869) was an Avenger-class heavy frigate on active duty in Starfleet during the late 23rd century. She was commissioned in September, 2252 as a Surya-class frigate, and underwent a major refit in 2276-2278 to convert it to an Avenger-class vessel. (Ships of the Star Fleet)
Captain Maretta commanded the Amiens in the late 2280s. in May, 2288, Amiens was attacked by three alien vessels; USS Avenger responded to the ship's distress signal, and the two Starfleet vessels set two of the attackers to flight and disabled the third. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Battle Sequence")
Nomenclature[]
The ship was named after the city of Amiens, France, on Earth, as well as the 1918 Battle of Amiens. The latter was the opening phase of the Hundred Days Offensive which directly led to the Armistice with Germany during World War I. The city was extensively fought over during Earth's first two World Wars.
