The USS Ares (NX-19803) was a Covert-class Starfleet scout vessel commissioned into the Starfleet Third Fleet in 2382, under the command of Captain Charles Byrd with Commander Zixx as the vessel's executive officer. On stardate 59229.24, Captain Benjamin Kelsoe was temporarily placed under command of the USS Ares. Kelsoe, along with Commander Robert Tuff, Lt. Commander Joanna Withrome, and Lieutenant Gervasio Valdez took the USS Ares into stealth mode and went behind enemy lines to visit the planet of Boolrillia to meet with the leadership of the Boolran Order.
