USS Arthur C. Clarke (NCC-63544) was an Akira-class heavy cruiser on active duty in Starfleet during at least the last quarter of the 24th century. (Starfleet International: USS Arthur C. Clarke)

It's probable that, in addition to being named after the science-fiction author, the vessel was named after USS Clarke, a Malachowski-class starship destroyed at the Battle of the Binary Stars in 2256. (DIS: "Battle at the Binary Stars", "Context is for Kings")

Arthur C. Clarke was assigned to the Starfleet Seventh Fleet in the 2370s. She was assigned as flagship of Task Force 16, under the command of Rear Admiral Mark Vinson.

Nomenclature[]

The ship was named for the 20th and 21st century science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke.
