The USS Boston (NCC-572) was a Saladin-class (Cochise-subclass) destroyer on active duty in Starfleet during at least the 23rd century. She was appropriated for construction in the mid-2260s and entered service as a guided weapons destroyer in the early 2270s.
During the 2280s, the Boston was placed under the command of Tim Abel, when it pulled away an experimental weapon, the Subspace equaliscopic system, whose usage was to jam subspace communications in a two parsec radius, from its position in orbit over the Lodash system, where it was undertaking a test. She was found crashed near Echo Station 3-T-8 on Thuban by the USS Antechrist. Arlotte Charmand served as a science officer onboard at the time of the crash. (Star Trek: False Vacuum: "Structural Unemployment")
