The USS Brinthaupt (NCC-312) was a Nebula-class science vessel in service to Starfleet in the late 24th century. As of 2377, the Brinthaupt was under the command of Captain Raymond Hughes and Commander Savemk. The Brinthaupt was on a science mission to Beta IV in 2377 in the Beta system. (Star Trek: Syracuse)

History[]

The Brinthaupt took part in a few battles during the Dominion War. During that time, she had some permanent refits added like a quantum torpedo tube and pulse phasers. The first battle that involved the Brinthaupt was the Second Battle of Chin'toka, when Starfleet troops fought valiantly against the Dominion and its allies. The Brinthaupt received heavy damage, but made it out of the battle after saving the crew of the USS Ticonderoga, which had been heavily damaged in the battle. The entire crew of the Brinthaupt was given a Starfleet Medal of Honor for their excellent efforts during the battle.

Beta Quadrant exploration[]

The Brinthaupt took part in Starfleet's first-ever Beta Quadrant Exploration Mission. Over 150 other starships also took part in this continuing mission. Brinthaupt's first mission took it to a planet that the Breen had decimated, Pollux. A Romulan outpost was presumed destroyed on the planet, and the Brinthaupt was sent to investigate. Three hundred and four people survived the Breen's onslaught, but over ten thousand residents did not. A few weeks later, the Brinthaupt was diverted to Beta IV to study a collapsing moon in orbit of the planet and divert its remains into space.

Background information[]

The Brinthaupt was named for a famous Starfleet engineer, Jacquelenn Brinthaupt, a human who worked on many starship projects including the Nebula-class Development Project.

The Brinthaupt was assigned NCC-312 because the Starfleet Internal Registry System failed for a short period of time, and a glitch was discovered when the Brinthaupt's construction began. The ship was subsequently issued NCC-312.
