The USS Charleston (NCC-42285) was an Excelsior-class Starfleet starship in service during the mid- to late-24th century.
The Charleston completed a mission to Arloff IX and then transported three human cryonics satellite survivors back to Earth in 2364. (TNG: "The Neutral Zone")
In early 2367, the Charleston was on a deep space exploration mission in Sector 22055. (TNG: "Brothers")
Participating in the blockade of the Klingon-Romulan border during the Klingon Civil War in early 2368, the Charleston was near the USS Tian An Men, USS Hornet and USS Merrimac. (TNG: "Redemption II")
By 2378, the Charleston was a part of the Starfleet Third Fleet, under the command of Admiral Christopher Truman. In 2382, the Charleston participated in the Battle of Minark. (Star Trek: Pioneer, "Torment and Woe")
