USS Christa McAuliffe (NCC-860) was a Gagarin-class science scout on active duty in Starfleet during the late 23rd century.
McAuliffe surveyed UFC-2116 in February, 2288. (Star Trek: Avenger: "As Others See Us") The following month, McAuliffe was reassigned from a vegetation-testing mission on Stonybrook VII to pick up several marine biologists and data from a cetacean research project on Maßship IV. Bruce Brocton served aboard McAuliffe prior to his transfer to USS Avenger in mid-2294. (Star Trek: Avenger: "Thy Avenging Spirit")
Nomenclature[]
The ship was the namesake of American civilian astronaut Christa McAullife (1948-1986), who died in the Space Shuttle Challenger disaster in 1986.
