USS Draco (NCC-2004) was the lead ship and prototype of the Draco-class galactic survey cruisers launched in the 2270s and 2280s.
Draco, commanded by Captain Giulio Messaccio, launched for trials in February, 2278, and set sail for her destination 280,000 light years away in July of that year. (Hobbyist's Guide to the UFP Starfleet and Its History, Part 1b)

In the novelization of Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, this vessel was called USS M-31.
