- It's possible that whatever materials already invested in contract #1008 went on to become another starship of a different class bearing that number, or another.

In one possible timeline, the USS Enterprise (NCC-1008) was a Bonaventure-class starship and was launched in 2209 and destroyed prior to 2243. She was often forgotten by history. Her successor would be the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701).
