The USS Excalibur (NCC-1705) was a Constitution-class heavy cruiser in Starfleet service during the mid- to late-23rd century. By the end of 2256, the ship had gone through an extensive upgrade period to achieve full parity with the ten other ships of the Flight II standard. Within a few years of her Flight II conversion, she went through yet another one to meet the standards of the primary configuration of the Bonhomme Richard subclass. By 2265, all Bonhomme Richards (of the three types) had been upgraded to the Constitution Flight III standard. (Star Fleet Starship Recognition Manual: Report #298: Constitution Heavy Cruiser)

This ship (of the Delta Dynamics continuity) differs from the identically-named one from other continuities partially due to the distinct naval construction code.
