The USS Excelsior (NCC-2000-C) (often referred to as the Excelsior-C) was a Sovereign-class starship in Federation Starfleet service during the late 24th century. During the Dominion War, it was the flagship of Task Force 38. (Star Trek: Excelsior)

The Excelsior-C had three commanding officers in two years. In 2382, Captain Chandra C. Siresh was murdered by her first officer, Commander Rachel Cortez, after the latter uncovered an attempt by Siresh, who had been infected by a neural parasite, to flood the Alpha Quadrant with the species. Cortez succeeded Siresh as CO. (Star Trek: Excelsior: "Every Good Captain has Admiral Issues")

Cortez commanded the Excelsior-C until her death in 2383 from injuries suffered during the Valandrian Expedition months earlier. She was succeeded by Alcar Dovan. (Star Trek: Excelsior: "Her Hardest Hue to Hold") In 2385 Dovan was relieved of command and Court-martial for violating the Prime Directive and sentenced to 16 years confinement at the prison on Jaros II. He was replaced by Captain Joshua Underwood. (And Bear Witness) In 2387 Underwood was promoted to Commodore by Admiral Jean-Luc Picard and placed in charge of the civillian flotilla assisting in the Evacuation of Romulus. With the resolution of the crisis, He was reassigned to Station Salem-One and placed in charge of the refugee resettlement office. First Officer Aleczhander Lohrok was promoted to Captain and given command of the ship. (Bound to the Starless Midnight)
