The USS Hornet (NCC-45231) was a Federation Renaissance-class starship in service during the late 24th century.
During the Federation blockade of the Klingon-Romulan border in 2368 the Hornet was deployed so to link the USS Ajax, USS Enterprise-D, USS Hood and USS Tian An Men in the tachyon detection grid. In an attempt to breach the blockade the Romulans disrupted the network near the Hornet, forcing the task force to retreat to Gamma Eridon. (TNG: "Redemption, Part II")
The Hornet saw action during the Dominion War. It was put in for repairs at Deep Space 9 in 2375. (DS9: "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges")
