The USS Lysander (NCC-540) was an Saladin-class frigate that was service with the Federation Starfleet during the 23rd century. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 4: Starships of the Original Series Era)

In 2269, Lysander's commanding officer was Mohammed Tafari. One of her communications officers had the surname Tabakow. That year, the ship was undergoing a benchmark survey near the Gamma 7A system. (TOS novel: Planet of Judgment)

In 2285, the Lysander discovered a rich source of dilithium in the Poranis system. It was engaged by a B'rel-class light warship to prevent the Lysander from reporting its find back to Starfleet Command. (Ship Recognition Manual, Volume 4: Starships of the Original Series Era)

Background[edit | edit source]

The ship was named after a Spartan general of the 5th century, B.C.E., who helped bring about an end to the Peloponnesian War.
