The USS Macross was a 24th century Akira-class starship.
In 2376, the Macross was on its way to Deep Space 12 when it came under attack from and was boarded by the Tzenkethi. The USS Angeles came to their aid and the two ships managed to destroy or drive off the Tzenkethi vessels. Unfortunately, the Macross warp core was damaged, forcing Angeles to perform a hasty rescue of survivors. (Voyages of the USS Angeles: "Return to Duty")

Macross was likely named after the ship from the Japanese science fiction anime franchise Macross.
