The USS Newport was a New Orleans-class frigate that saw service with the Federation Starfleet during the late 24th century.
It was the lead ship of the so-called Newport batch (aka Block III) of the New Orleans ships. There were at least five others of this block built, including USS Madras. (Hobbyist's Guide to the UFP Starfleet and Its History, Part 1b)
