USS Odyssey (NCC-71832-A) (Galaxy class)

The USS Odyssey (NCC-71832-A) was a Galaxy-class starship of the Federation Starfleet during the late 24th century, assigned to operate out of Unity One Starbase. Under the legendary command of Captain Lewis, the Odyssey served in countless missions and battles, as well as becoming the flagship of the Unity Flotilla.

The ship was launched in 2386 as a replacement for the previous starship Odyssey, destroyed by the Dominion in 2370, and part of a second generation of Galaxy-class starships commissioned following the Dominion War. (Star Trek: Unity)

Nomenclature

The ship was named after the Odyssey, one of two epic poems (circa 8th century, B.C.E.) attributed to Homer, on Earth, as well as other sea- and starfaring vessels, usually of Earth registry.
