The USS Peterson (NCC-24) was a patrol starship of the Curran-class serving in the Federation Starfleet. The vessel was previously commissioned by the Earth Starfleet as UES Peterson (PC-147). Vessels of this class were eventually retired. (The Starfleet Museum)
The vessel was named for Edward Peterson, 21st century marine biologist who, among other things, was the first person to capture video images of a live giant squid. (Ex Astris Scientia)
