The USS Repulse (NCC-71359) was a Nebula-class Federation starship in service during the latter half of the 24th century. The ship was launched from Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in 2370 to replace the aging Excelsior-class starship of the same name, which was decommissioned in 2369. She is the third starship to bear the name. Her commanding officer upon launch was Captain James Farrell.

The ship's first mission was to escort Federation colonists to the remote world of Eden Prime. (Star Trek: The Nomad Frontier: "Baptism of Fire")

In 2371, the ship was sent to the Badlands to assist in the search for the missing USS Voyager. (ST: TNF "Archangel")

Background information[]

In Ten Forward, there is a memorial plaque that bears the names of fallen members of the crew. It is customary to touch the plaque whenever entering or exiting the room. (ST: TNF "Archangel")

The shuttles aboard the Repulse were personally named by Captain Farrell after famous battles in Earth history. The exception is the shuttlecraft Gruber, which was named in honor of fallen Repulse officer, Ensign Scott Gruber.

Like her two predecessors, she was named for the HMS Repulse, a British battleship sunk during World War Two. The dedication plaque on her bridge bears a quote from William Shakespeare: Cowards die many times before their deaths; The valiant never taste of death but once.
