USS Ride (NCC-643) was a Gagarin-class science scout active in the 23rd and early 24th centuries.

Rebecca Gallaudet commanded Ride for two three-year missions, from 2283 to 2289. (Star Trek: Shadowstar Station: "Blindspot")

During at least part of her operational lifetime, the ship was deployed to the Starfleet Twelfth Fleet.

USS Ride, a Shepard-class starship with a higher registry number, had been in service in the 2250s. (DIS: "Battle at the Binary Stars")

Nomenclature[]

The ship was named after Sally Ride (1951-2012), the first female American astronaut.

Background information[]

A USS Sally Ride (NCC-643) was also a chapter of Starfleet International, based in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. In 1992, her chapter president was Janie McGaugh. (Communiqué 50 [April/May 1992])
