The USS Turing (NCC-46) was the lead ship of the Turing subclass for the Cavalry-class light destroyers in Earth Starfleet (and later Federation) service during the mid- to late-22nd century. Originally commissioned into the Earth Starfleet (hull designation ND-629), she was one of only 4 Cavalry class ships to transition into the Federation Starfleet. Nomenclature[]
The Turing was named after Alan Turing (1912-1954), the 20th century English mathematician, cryptanalyst, computer scientist, and theoretical biologist.
