Star Trek Expanded Universe

The USS Xena was a Galaxy-class Federation starship in the late 24th century, that was later refit with a variant third nacelle. It contained more medical facilities than normal and was the lead ship of Task Force Zeta. (Star Trek: Phoenix-X)

History[]

In 2368, the Xena responded to a distress call from the Cardassian starship Tarak whom was engaged in battle with a Romulan starship. It became apparent that the Tarak was quickly losing the fight so Captain Aeris gave aid to Gul Meloneus and his crew before it was too late. Meloneus was quick to turn on the Xena when the Xena came under attack by the same Romulan ship, and Meloneus denied requests for assistance. He decided to allow the impending doom as a distraction while he geared his efforts into taking over the Romulan ship. Meloneus and Commander Night Gotens would not forget each other after this encounter. ("Missed the Mishap", "The Bajoran Trove")

In 2370, the Xena was modified with the third nacelle after descriptions of an alternate future from Captain Jean-Luc Picard. ("The Tiloniam System")

In 2374, the Xena went into the Tiloniam system to rescue the crew of the USS Phoenix from being destroyed by a Dominion attack. After this mission, Commander Gotens was transferred to the USS Phoenix-X. ("The Tiloniam System", "The Links' Traitor")

In 2376, the crew of the Xena was kidnapped by a Gordarion egg-ship so that they could be medically experimented on. Fortunately, they were saved by a skeleton crew from the Phoenix-X before it would be too late. ("Experimentalism")

A few months later, the Xena was entrusted to store Klokian's timeship from the Phoenix-X. It was kept secret from Starfleet Command in the shuttle bay. ("Fight Bringers")

In 2390, several divergent-Hirogen initiated random attacks on Starfleet ships, including the Xena, destroying it and heavily damaging others. Shortly after, Captain Aeris and her crew were transferred to the Sovereign-class USS Zephyra. ("Into Harshness")
