The USS Yosemite (NCC-19002) was an Oberth-class vessel in service during the latter part of the 24th century.

In 2366 the ship was under the command of Captain Patricia Blackswan, when it was sent to investigate the destruction of the Federation Science Outpost D5. The outpost had been attacked by the Borg, a fact determined by the ship's Chief Engineer, Lieutenant Elizabeth Shelby. (NF short story: "All That Glisters...")

In 2369, the Yosemite was dispatched to study a plasma streamer between two stars in the Igo Sector. However a plasma sample exploded in main engineering during the mission and the ship drifted off course, leading to the USS Enterprise-D arriving to investigate the ship's fate. An away team from the Enterprise found the ship empty, except for the dead body of the ship's Chief Engineer, Lieutenant Joshua Kelly. Further investigation lead to the discovery that the crew had become infected with quasi-energy microbes from the plasma streamer caught in the explosion and had attempted to remove them using the transporter, becoming suspended in the system. Lieutenant Reginald Barclay discovered this when he noticed a "creature" during transport and grabbed it, rematerialising with one of the trapped crewmen. (TNG: "Realm of Fear")

Under the Command of Captain J. Swift, the Yosemite was traveled from New Brooklyn IX to Deep Space 9 on stardate 47552.9. (DS9: "Whispers")

Captain Swift was still in command four years later, when the ship was assigned to the Seventh Fleet at the Battle of Tyra. During the battle the Yosemite was destroyed, but several crewmembers managed to reach escape pods before the ship's destruction, making planetfall on Tyra III. (Star Trek: The Adventures of Argus: "Trial By Fire")

Nomenclature[]

The ship was named for Yosemite National Park in North America, on Earth.
