- "She isn't the fastest or the strongest or the toughest ship around... But the Unreliable is mine. And that is what matters."
- — Captain Breezie McKormic ("Convergencies")
The Unreliable (NCC-11130) (formerly the U.S.S. Reliable) was a Miranda-class starship in service during the late 23rd century to the early 24th century before being lost and relaunched in 2364 by Breezie McKormic and her crew. (The Unreliable's Light: "Launching Day", "Mirror Leakage")
History[]
Following the Khitomer Accords, Starfleet ship production rapidly sped up in order to have enough ships to assist the Klingons after the explosion of Praxis. The Reliable was one of these ships, launched 3 years after the accords were signed in 2296.
During a mission in 2305, the Reliable was attacked by the Anti-Khitomer Protesters in a hit and run, forcing the ship to be docked on a planetary spacedock on Terra IV. It remained that way for 59 years until 2364, where Breezie McKormic found the ship in desperate need of repair being fought over. After repairing the ship enough, the ship took off once more, now under the name of Unreliable.
Sometime prior to 2364, a prototype of the Emergency Medical Hologram (known as Mark 0.82) was installed on the ship. Whoever did though is unknown.
Service under Breezie McKormic[]
2364[]
Soon after relaunch in 2364, the Unreliable docked in a Ferengi starbase. The ship then got fitted with railguns on the port and starboard sides of the ship's saucer. The ship soon passed by an anomaly being scanned by the USS Whistler. The ISS Vortex then came out of the anomaly and began firing at the Whistler. The Unreliable intervened, helping destroy the ISS Vortex. After the battle, Captain Yuji Takizawa reported the revival of the Reliable to Admiral Hudson.
The Unreliable then came face to face with its own mirror counterpart, the ISS Reliable. Due to the Unreliable being more armed and advanced, the ISS Reliable was torn apart after the Unreliable targeted the counterpart's warp core, causing a breach.
A few days later, the Unreliable assisted with the repairs and escorted the Klingon Vor'cha class vessel IKS 'ejyaH back to Klingon space for further repairs.
The Unreliable was then recruited into a task force battling a Terran fleet entering the prime universe. In the resulting battle, the Unreliable managed to destroy the Rift generator creating the Terrans' passage. The battle was a success for Starfleet and the Unreliable & her crew were officiated as allies of Starfleet. ("Mirror Leakage")
Later that same year, the Unreliable encountered the adrift NX-02 Columbia. An away team consisting of Breezie, Sutaba and Devoid beams aboard to investigate the vessel (which mysteriously had life support active) in a mission that ends in disaster. Devoid gets infected with the parasite, as diagnosed by the EMH once the away team gets back to the Unreliable.
The Unreliable then arrived at Starbase 523 to gather information about what happened to the NX-02, but were interrupted when the NX-02 arrived to terrorise the starbase. The Unreliable was one of only 2 ships to survive the attack by Columbia on Starbase 523 (with the Bolian Lieutenant Motra of the USS Hotama aboard as they were with them on the Starbase), with only the Lynimick surviving too as both evacuated instead of fighting. Both surviving ships worked together to create a cure for the parasite to use on Devoid. The cure was successfully delivered to Devoid by Sally Sillington.
Columbia later caught up with the Unreliable and Lynimick, intending to destroy them too, only for Wally on the Unreliable to destroy Columbia's Symmetrical warp govenor, which led to the Unreliable & Lynimick destroying Columbia in battle. Both ships arrived at a spacedock for repairs and it's assumed after that both ships went their seperate ways. ("Parasitic Relic")
2365[]
During this year, the Unreliable travelled to a planet with several unknown lifeforms. During the mission, the ship remained in orbit before being taken down into the atmosphere to fight Safi’jiiva. The ship ended up winning (with a few scrapes) by firing a torpedo down the elder dragon's gut. ("Fantasy Planet")
Later, the Unreliable was essential in the redescovery and investigation of the Rainbow Factory. It helped recover the USS Andromeda by dragging it out of the range of the jammer. Once reactivated, the Andromeda assisted the Unreliable in destroying the facility after learning what truly goes on within those walls. ("Rainbow Factory")
That same year, the Unreliable and her crew were warped by a crack in time to an alternate 2393 whilst escaping the Hiss. It avoided crashing into the nearby USS Phoenix-X and the two crews began to collaborate on a way to defeat the Hiss. The Unreliable was brought to Starbase 55 to get a supply of chronitons and be fitted with a transwarp coil. Whilst initial experiments to seal up the breaches were successful, the two ships were overwhelmed and were forced to escape to 2365 of the Unreliable's timeline. This escape drained a lot of their chroniton supply, leading them to collect some more in a nearby nebula. A few Lost Void sentinels tried stealing what the two starships gathered, only for a warp speed chase to ensue where the sentinels lost. This led the ships to a Lost Void gateway, where voices began echoing from it, distracting the crew of both ships. Alex ended up using the sensors of the Unreliable in order to find where they're coming from, pushing them to 150%. This led to them finding a route in the Lost Void. The two ships journeyed in, where they were essential in the defeat of the Hiss and first contact with the Voidlings. The Voidlings helped in taking the two ships back to their own timelines, with the Unreliable taking the Chaffee-type shuttle Edward from the Phoenix-X, unintentionally. ("Convergencies")
2366[]
Near the start of the year, the ship had been upgraded by a team of engineers including Geordi La Forge, which also repaired the transporter. Breezie also helped by turning the Edward into the 'Battle Shuttle' Tyson. After completion, Breezie, Alex & Sally collected the rest of the crew from their temporary post on the Fleet Museum. During this, the ship managed to get another crew member in Johannah Jackson, who formerly served on the USS Excelsior. After Johannah was accomodated into the crew, Breezie sent the ship to Earth to meet Hikaru Sulu along with Johannah. ("New Ewe On Deck")
Later that year, after a mission to Deneb V. A transwarp accident sent the ship to Hell. Upon arriving, the ship was attacked by a hijack thanks to Vox, leading to the crew investigating what's going on. During the investigation, a fleet of helicopters attacked, damaging many of the systems but still winning thanks to the intervention of Sally, who ordered that extra firewalls be put up. The ship would later deal the finishing blow to Valentino, destroying his condo and him with a torpedo. After Vaggie finds out what caused the accident was a dilithium misallignment, Vox attempted one last hack to send the ship to ram through all seven rings of Hell, only to be blocked by an override. After Vox was killed and the Vee Tower left in severely poor condition, the Unreliable escaped Hell and went to Risa, as they planned. ("DownVall")
After the holiday had concluded, the Unreliable was on a servey mission near Starbase 523 when the USS Enterprise-B and 4 Gorn cruisers (the latter of which soon warped away) breached into their timeline. The Gorn cruisers later returned with Romulan allies, which the Unreliable & Enterprise-B soon took care of but due to Gorn weapons fire overwhelming them, they had to escape. The 2 ships were then equipped with the newly invented Sol Torpedoes, allowing them to fight back against the Gorn. The Unreliable then escorted the Enterprise-B to a starbase for repairs & upgrades before going off to rendevous with the USS Stargazer. ("1701-Back From The Dead")
