Viony Lem was the first host of the Lem Trill symbiont. She was born in 2141 and died in 2226, and she was 19 when she was joined.

Viony was a classical concert pianist by training, and was joined to the Lem symbiont for 65 years. They were joined in 2161, in the same year that the United Federation of Planets and Starfleet Academy were founded (Starship Independence: "Ultraviolet").

In 2163, Viony made her debut at the Sydney Opera House on Earth with the Aldebaran Symphony, performing Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No.2 on the main program and Mozart's Concert Rondo in D for the encore, of which she later acquired a recording. ("Musical Parts (Part 2)")

It is likely that pre-contact with Earth, Viony would have been trained in the Trill version of the piano. It can be conjectured that Viony first discovered the abundant treasure-trove of Earth's classical piano repertoire around the time of the Federation's foundation. She embraced this music more than enthusiastically, at the very least to be sufficiently proficient to publicly perform non-Trill composers like Mozart and Shostakovich within a year or two of learning their music.

Among Viony's final performances before she retired from the concert circuit, and one which was especial to her, was Mozart's Piano Concerto No.23 with the Martian Philharmonic Orchestra. ("Shakedown Cruise")

Other keyboard works in Viony's repertoire included Bach's Goldberg Variations. ("Curioser and Q-rioser").
