William R. Johnson

Commander William R. Johnson was a Federation Starfleet scientist, security officer, and line officer on active duty in the 23rd century. (Star Trek: Avenger)

Johnson's first post-Starfleet Academy assignment was aboard the USS Avenger as a laboratory technician (space sciences) with the rank of ensign. Several months later, he switched specialties to social sciences. In late 2287, he was promoted to full lieutenant and appointed department head of social sciences, reporting to then-chief science officer Jonathan Lane. He was injured in an aquashuttle accident during the Avenger's survey of Jaccuzzi III in 2290.

Johnson was promoted to lieutenant commander in August of 2290. Shortly thereafter, he returned to the Academy to pursue a course of study in security studies. Following completion of the program, he was posted to the USS Ascension as an attaché in that ship's Security division.

In 2291, Lieutenant Commander Johnson returned to Avenger, and in October of that year was posted as chief of security. In July 2292, he was named executive officer while still doubling as chief of security. Steven Romano succeeded him as chief of security a month later.

In 2293, Johnson was promoted to full commander. In July, he participated in a landing party to UFC-61933-IV to contact the planet's surviving inhabitants. The following March (2294), Johnson left the position of XO and became an advisor in the Sciences division. He transferred off Avenger by early 2297.
